Kent Close
INTERIOR: Dining Room
INTERIOR: Bathroom
I was inspired by the typical codes and conventions as most horror films use a dark, quiet bathroom to intensify the chilling moment that alerts both the character and the audience. I focused on the bathroom sink mostly because it reminds me of wanting to get rid of something that is either no longer needed, or to possibly end the way the character's sanity deteriorating and living.
INTERIOR: Bedroom
I like the way the bedroom is dominated by the dark lighting which adds to the tight feel of the shots. There were challenges to getting the camera to compress the shots as this setting looked too narrow to film in. In one of the shots, I had to find a wall to position the warning signs in a particular order as almost of the room is too crowded to place.
This time structure shows dawn as it symbolises a beginning of a new day and thus a chance to achieve happiness and improvement. However, I decided to create some degree of irony as i wanted it to show the sign of misfortune to foreshadow the presence of the masked demon being near. Also, as sunrise is recognised as a symbol of birth and rebirth, of awakening. In this case, sunrise is used to convey the birth of impending doom The coming of light, resurrection.
EXTERIOR- Garden
EXTERIOR- Woodnewton Way- Forest
The significant use of rural nature is used to imply the detached feeling of the character. It is supposed to imply a warning- in most films forests connote danger as it hides a dark secret. This setting could be used as a way of entering the unknown to which it connects well to the character ignoring the consequences from his actions.
Corby Business Academy
INTERIOR- Classroom cupboard
this setting is used to establish the cramped feeling of the character, It looks secure and very limited which adds to the tension of the trailer. As this setting has filled cupboards, it connotes this sense of a variety of stored information that is meant to be or not to be found.
